Inspire Your Students This British Science Week with e-Bug!

Date: 5 Mar 2025

British Science Week 2025 is just around the corner, starting on the 7 of March. This annual 10-day celebration of science, technology, engineering, and maths is the perfect opportunity to engage your students with exciting and educational activities.

This year's theme, 'Change and Adapt,' aligns perfectly with our mission at e-Bug to educate and encourage positive adaptations in behaviour to address the ways the world is changing. While some changes, like the spread of microbes due to global travel and climate change, pose challenges, others, like advancements in vaccinations, offer significant benefits. There are many ways we can adapt our behaviours to respond to these changes and protect our health and the health of those around us.

To help you bring these important topics to life in your classroom, e-Bug has assembled a selection of resources tailored to this year's theme. Here are some highlights:

Microbes: Microbes are changing and adapting due to global travel and climate change. It's crucial to understand microbes and the causes of their change. Explore the lesson plans for Key Stages 1 to 4.

Hand Hygiene: Microbes on our hands can spread from person to person through contact or surfaces. Proper regular handwashing goes a long way in preventing this. Check out their lesson plans for Early Years and Key Stages 1, 2, and 3.

Respiratory Hygiene: To prevent the spread of harmful microbes, especially those causing respiratory tract infections, it's important to learn proper respiratory hygiene techniques. Discover the lesson plans for Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stages 1 to 4.

Vaccinations: Vaccinations have made incredible strides, protecting us from diseases that once caused widespread suffering. Staying up-to-date with vaccinations, including new and booster jabs, is crucial. By doing so, we protect ourselves and our communities. Watch e-Bug's videos to understand the concept of immunity and vaccinations and explore their lesson plans for Key Stages 2 and 3.

Antibiotics and Antimicrobial Resistance: With antimicrobial resistance becoming a global health crisis, it's important that children—the antimicrobial users and prescribers of the future—understand what antimicrobial resistance is, why microbes are becoming resistant to antibiotics, and how we can all adapt our behaviours to keep them working. Learn more about AMR and access e-Bug's lesson plans for Key Stages 2, 3, and 4.
